We're back and I'm back to work..... arrrgh............ the first day back after 2 weeks on vacation feels like the longest day of the year. We had a good time away and the kids had fun, although, Little Miss at almost 6 sounded like a girl entering her teenage years.............. "I don't want to do that, that's boring, you never do anything fun for me"..... and then when we arrived at our destination like mini golf or the beach, she was all over it. The problem was the indoor pool that we had at the place where we were staying............. that's the only place she wanted to be. I could have set up camp on the pool deck and she would have been happy.
We stayed at a place called Oceanside Village Resort and I can only recommend it. We certainly weren't roughing it. :-)

JR Exploring the Kitchen Cabinets

JR did have a great time and was a bit of a menace - it only took him minutes how to figure out getting away from our cabin so we constantly had to barricade the front door with chairs and other things to make him stay inside.
I also had a wonderful visit with Shelley on Quadra Island at her shop Fun Knits. We met up with Brenda and had fun exploring the shop. I made a few purchases including my Kauni EQ for the KAL. I'm such a bandwagon girl. I made a few other purchases at Fun Knits and in Nanaimo that I'll save for the next post. The next post will also show my vacation knitting - a pair of socks and an intricate sweater for Little Miss - her request. Shelley and her hubby also hosted us to a wonderful BBQ at their house after the store visit. It was great and lo and behold, not one of us captured that day with any pictures. I can't believe we were that silly.
For anyone on Ravelry come and find me under "mommyknits". I just got my invitation on the weekend and have started playing around with it a bit. I will migrate my sock yarn stash list to there soon as I am still thinking about some changes to this blog and its layout.
While away, I made celtic stars like crazy. It was an easy project to take along and to do while sitting at the kitchen counter - on high bar stools where little hands couldn't get hold of pliers or rings. Here's a shot of what I accomplished:

These are the stars that I sell as bag charms/zipper pulls but they could just as easily be key chains. I have a small one on my key chain. I think I made 24 of these little things and the Halloween coloured one is now available on Etsy.
Another couple of new additions today were a sapphire blue Swarovski crystal bracelet:

as well as a red and silver persian weave cross key chain:

I made tons of new earrings this past weekend, too. Just can't keep up with the picture taking. :-)
Off I go - enjoy the rest of August because we all know what happens in September.....
