My Show Piece
I'm going here on no lunch and only a marginal breakfast and just a bunch of coffee........... yuck. My fault for missing lunch because it was a catered lunch and I didn't get there on time. I assumed someone would "buzz" me when lunch was ready - but nobody did and I just kept on going along, not even thinking about the time. I guess that homemade spaghetti dinner I have to create when I come home will taste awfully good and of course, it's one of those days when we're in a rush and when i come home hungry all my WW rules fall out of my head and I ignore the warning bells that go off in my head that say "too many points, too many points - eat some carrot sticks instead".
In the last week or so, I've been working on what I consider my show piece - my first sterling silver chainmaille necklace. It is made with just under 400 little sterling silver rings. The wire gauge is 20 gauge and each ring, on the inside is only just over 0.25 cm or just around 0.1 inch aka it's a fiddly job. I love silver and blue so I added the sapphire coloured swarovski crystals. And guess what, I ordered more sterling silver to make another one and I will use either amethyst coloured crystals or I made go for the real thing - real amethyst beads - it's a Christmas gift......... psssst - nobody tell the recipient. :-)
So what do you think? Silver is so hard to photograph!!!!
For some things that are much easier and quicker to create, I've added some new knitting cell charms to the store: yarn and needles, sweater in progress and Love to Knit.
And how's this for trying to be frugal - I tried to make a new pair of mittens from some of my new Opal 6-ply stash. I wanted a few more pair for my last few craft shows. I have one tomorrow night and Saturday and then my last one - Creative Finds - on December 1st. So I started one mitten. When I finished it, I decided that I didn't want to waste any yarn on making a colour match so I started a hat........... then the yarn had a knot in it and the pattern went all out to nowhere..... and I kept going on the hat but it was turning out too big for the size that I wanted - so I ripped the hat. Now, I have one mitten, a bunch of pulled apart yarn and nothing finished................. all for the sake of saving a few yards of yarn. :-) Pretty smart, eh?
Happy Thanksgiving to my friends down south. Have a good turkey day.
